Super = a more powerful Alcomax III magnet.
12 is the diameter.
RS = roll surround . It is a rubber impregnated cloth material
DD = double diaphram. A twin cone. That is what makes it a full frequency range speaker. You can see the high frequency cone in the centre of the main cone. Commonly called a wizzer cone.

G. A. Briggs published an updated cabinet design brochure in 1964. One of the benefits of the "RS" roll surround design was the ability to use smaller reflex cabinets. Early versions of the Super 12 required about 5 cu. ft. for good bass performance. Most RS versions have a free air resonance around 30 cps and you will find the exact resonance of your speakers written on the back outer edge of the cone.
A cabinet with outer dimensions of 28" x 16" x 10" and constructed of 3/4" plywood is the minimum recommendation. The cabinet should be "well filled with light absorbent material" A port measuring 12" x 3/4" is cut into the front panel at the opposite end from the Super 12 mounting hole. "Clean bass down to 25 cps at low input levels" can be obtained.
If you want to optimize performance go for an outside dimensioned 34" x 23" x 14" cabinet also made with 3/4" plywood. The port arrangement is a series of 12 - 12" x 1/4" slots with 1-1/2" spacing machined into the back panel. For damping cover the inside back with an open weave cloth. Also staple and drape a 7' x 1'fiberglass curtain from top to bottom back to opposite top (like a U )
All Super 12's have fabulous transients but become directional in the treble. Try and get ahold of a Super 3 tweeter and set it on top of the main cabinet aimed at the ceiling for improved dispersion. Mount the tweeter on a 10" x 10" x 1/4" panel to eliminate cancellation effects. A 4-5 mfd. capacitor in one tweeter line will give a 4000-5000 cps. crossover at 6 db. / octave.
